May re-cap + June Activities!
Whimsy maxing amongst chaos
May.Was.Rough.
Between 1-10, I am someone who operates/does most things in life with a level 3 of anxiety. It’s my standard. It’s my “oh hey, I am relaxed! How nice!”.
I have been able to experience a level 1 or a 2, but it’s not my average. I’ve only been able to achieve that level of calmness when I am able to do my routines, well, routinely. And yes, you’ve guessed it! Based on how quiet I have been over here and how every time I write a newsletter to share something with y’all I am in the middle of a never ending list of tasks, deadlines and shifting priorities, I have not been able to keep up with my routines. These past several months have been particularly challenging. My standard 3 turned to a 5 most of May. It was really hard.
Carving out sweet moments of pure whimsy and rest/re-set were of the utmost importance. I could see the burnout looming close by so I have also made some choices these last couple of weeks with sustainability in mind that have given me the time and spaciousness to do things differently.
Y’all, my stress is so intense that I cannot smoke weed unless it’s mixed with CBD because pure THC gets me too relaxed and I automatically stress even more because I cannot believe I can be this chill. lol.
Now that May is over and I am somehow already half way through June (WHAT?!) I am slowly starting to feel like I can take full deep breaths and that feels nice. Shall we take one together? Innnnn aaaand outtttt. Yeah. Nice.
Some of the moments where I got to fully rest and truly reconnect with my body and my emotional landscape was right in the beginning. Ane and I got to quite literally run away into the middle of the mountains.
The same day I got back from this glorious much needed reset, I hit the ground running (which was so very hard) because my sweet nervous system was just getting adjusted to slowness. The rest of the month carried that “go go go” energy and I am once again beginning to readjust myself to stay present.
Thankfully, within the “go go go” I was able to go to RenFair three times this year! Whimsymaxxing!!

AND I got to attend the Daggerheart One Year Anniversary to announce that I shall be in the new season of Age of Umbra! That’s what I was filming in LA back in February. YAY! You can check-out the livestream here. More on AOU and CR soon! I wrote a bunch of stuff for my character as I was preparing for the game and I definitely wanna give y’all BTS from that, but I gotta keep it together because SPOILERS lol.
HOWEVERRRR if you haven’t seen “Saddle Up” by Good Day to Dice, this might be your time to do so. I got to work on this TTRPG literally right after Age of Umbra and it was WILD.
Since I was in LA for most of May, Ane got to visit me for a hot second and while my free time was very limited, I was glad they came over :’)
We’re bringing back “Mucho Mucho Amor” in August in our new home! Between traveling schedules and unpredictable production gigs we’ve been all over the place BUT we are officially moving in July to our new spot :’) after a year and a half of living with my parents (so many anecdotes here y’all) we are finally moving to a place that is ours where we can continue to expand our sweet, creative, polyamorous lives <3
As May came to an end, I went to the desert for a few days, did a photoshoot with some new Drag looks and finished another project, which this one I can talk about! A short film called “Top Surgery Task Rabbit” written and directed by K. Slaney. I had such a delightful time being part of this short. My soul needed it. Also, turns out we have a bunch of people in common! the Trans community in LA is very very small hehe.
There was so much more in between all of this, but this is what my heart and brain are able to share at the moment. I’m taking deep breaths, remembering that I have a body, that I am human, that I need rest and that staying present and enjoying the now always brings a smile to my face :’)

Mutual Aid:
May’s contributions were $1,045.00 and it shall go to sponsoring tickets to my show for folks from several Cuir Organizations in Puerto Rico. The economic crisis in PR, especially for cuir folks, is really tough and while I am excited to share this show with allies of the community, I want to make sure that the community is there to be celebrated and supported. While the story of the show is mostly the same, I have changed things in the script to reflect the importance of community and centering cuir voices/bodies. The theater I am doing my show in is a famous/historical cultural center space but it has never had Drag Kings and/or Burlesque performers, let alone trans bodies doing these shows. That’s why I’ve invited local cuir and trans artists to occupy the space with me and why I wanna make sure the audience has my/our people in it. Here are the orgs we are supporting!
Sombrilla Cuir
Colectivo Pluma
La Red TransMasc
La BoriVogue
Paso Libre
La Otra Laboratoria
See y’all for Parallel Play and may this Pride Month be filled with glorious celebration <3

I'm so glad you got a moment of rest in all of the hectic-ness! Not being able to relax fully because you're never fully relaxed so it spikes your anxiety is SO RELATABLE. So finding a moment of peace in it all is really nice 💖 I'm also always filling my life with projects and tasks and trips and nonsense (an important counter-balance to the tasks.) I hope you find another respite in it all soon.
Also yay! Congratulations on finding a place to live 🥳 that is great news - a new chapter is starting soon! 🌅
aww hope your June is full of more life-giving rest, Vico!
